Seahorse Psychotherapy & Counselling

Seahorse image for homepage.jpg

To the ancient Greeks seahorses were the 'horses of the sea', in Greek mythology it was the seahorse who pulled Poseidon (God of the Sea) through the oceans and they named the seahorses hippocampi.

In modern times the hippocampus is part of the limbic system within the brain, involved in emotional processing and regulating stress.

Why Seahorse?

The image of the seahorse is both majestic yet gentle and something that is unusual in that the male of the species births the babies. Perhaps then the symbol of the seahorse can offer us a representation of the balance of both feminine and masculine energies which we too hold within our unconscious.
